do you think 'TrooperGate' will hurt the Republican candidates' reputation?

Alaska governer and Republican vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, is being investigated after she fired her Public Safety Commisioner, Walt Monegan after he refused to fire an Alaskan state trooper who had divorced the Governors' sister.

The alledged scandal is being dubbed by the media "TrooperGate". If found guilty it could squash hopes of success for the McCain/Palin presidential campaign.

Palin says that she has every intention of cooperating with the investigation.

I don't believe that it will ruin her campaign, she is a very strong, courageous woman who will not let the media  get the best of her.  I think she will be gracious, and put her trust in God to get her through this horrible mess.  I wish the media and others would leave she and her family alone. After all, it isn't the first time a situation like this has happened, and it certainly won't be the last.  I admire Obama for telling the press that it should NOT be discussed any further..

but that is probably why the Governor took direct action to fire him. Her sister may have told Governor Palin what he was up to when he divorced her.  What else was he guilty of? Was this an emotional response?

It will hurt her reputation among principled people. As far as the Republicans are concerned, it probably makes her MORE qualified. They might want her to be in charge of the Justice Department if the VP thing falls through.

Yeah, but I am sure that didn't help that much...

Hurting their or her reputation and affecting their voter strength are two very different things.Interesting point about the fired trooper. I wasn't aware of this. who are you? :-)

The tropper was guilty of other items. He wasn't being fired for divorcing Palin's sister.
