Well, I would recomend Berlin. It's THE hot place of our times, specially if you like art. All sorts of artists are moving there and everything is happening. Good luck with whatever place you choose, you seem to lead quite an interesting life!
have not thought about visas --- but have a knack for figuring things out....so not looking at that as a barrier. Japan Potential opportunity = To learn Japanese. that could be a bonus.
Ah, Olympics. I have not lived in a city with Olympic games on, but when the Commonwealth games were here in Melbourne (the Commonwealth Games are about a quarter of the size) there was HUGE disruption. If you do not like having massive disruptions for 16 days, then I suggest you take your holidays in Paris or Rome or something during this time. Flights will be cheap because of all the empty planes flying out before the games and in after the games.
What about visas? Are you sure that you will be able to work in those countries? Tokyo may be a little hard to live in, there ARE english signs all over the place, but if you don't speak Japanese, then you may be in trouble in the non touristy areas.
Well I think that New York is about as good a place as any. But if you've got to move then you've got to me.These all look like good choices. Do you speak many languages, or do you perhaps prefer to stay silent and not conversationalize?I've heard good things about all of these places anyway, London and Hong Kong are bound to be the most english language friendly, but ahh crap, everyone speak-a d'english these days.

Added benefit of the Olympics, if you like them.

Looks like Tel Aviv is the leader here...which way will the crowd sway :-)
NY, Hong Kong, Italy, other small states in the U.S. and a bunch of travelling in between...
