Yeah, I am far more interested in Japanese or Arabic. Italian, French, and Spanish are similar (having "evolved" from the same root language), and English has a strong relationship to German. Grammatically, all of these languages are really similar, and they use the same alphabet, and there has been a lot of cross-pollination between them. A "different" language is far more interesting to me than languages that are similar to my own.
