Microsoft hires Jerry Seinfeld to promote Vista

From the Wall Street Journal:

"Microsoft Corp., weary of being cast as a stodgy oldster by Apple Inc.'s advertising, is turning for help to Jerry Seinfeld. The software giant's new $300 million advertising campaign, devised by a newly hired ad agency, has been closely guarded. But Mr. Seinfeld will be one of the key celebrity pitchmen, say people close to the situation. He will appear with Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates in ads and receive about $10 million for the work, they say." (link)

He's famous for being an asshole celebrity.  If I recall the line correctly: "If you want an autograph from Jerry Seinfeld you had better be: female, attractive, and single."  Why on earth would a giant monopoly try to soften their image by using a self-centered opportunist to represent them.

I would not call them idiots. Jerry Seinfeld is a pretty influential character.Leave it to Microsoft to do business with such a pop-culture icon such as he.I'm surprised that he's working though. I haven't seen him around in a long time.
