I used to play a great deal of chess, and was once able to consistently beat anyone I knew. But then... There was this clever Jamaican fellow I worked with, who held a national ranking in the 300's. The guy just mopped up the board, and won the game handily. My pride was kind of hurt, and I've stopped playing since. Petty, huh?
I played both draughts (checkers) and dominoes. Draughts was my favourite though.
