Kory McFarren, the boyfriend of Pam Babcock, who was discovered earlier this year stuck to a toilet seat after reportedly spending over a month in the bathroom, has been found guilty with a misdemeanor count of mistreatment of a dependent adult.
The Ness City, Kansas judge gave McFarren six months in jail but approved probation after victim Pam Babcock herself intervened in McFarren's behalf and asked the court for leniency.
Babcock was discovered by authorities after McFarren called the police to their home, where she was found literally stuck on the toilet seat. The woman has been living in the bathroom for months.
When asked to assume why Babcock stayed on the bathroom so long, McFarren said she was traumatized by beatings she received when she was a child, and was afraid to leave the bathroom.
The local Sheriff estimated, at the time of the arrest, that "this truly is a case of two people, in my opinion, with diminished mental capacity."
McFarren, who works at an antique store, said he has been taking care of Babcock for the 16 years they have lived together. He insisted that he tried to coax her out of the bathroom every day. The home has a second bathroom.
McFarren said he finally called police Feb. 27 after he became worried because Babcock was acting groggy, as if she didn't know what was going on around her.
Babcock is now under state's care, after receiving treatment at a local hospital. Boyfriend McFarren was also sentenced to six months in jail for an unrelated charge of lewd and lascivious behavior for exposing himself to a teenage neighbor in March.
what a mess that was.
