Is "Mormon Beefcake" worthy of excommunication?

Mormon Chad Hardy has been excommunicated by a disciplinary council of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for producing a calendar featuring shirtless Mormon missionaries.  The "Men on a Mission" 2009 calendar sells for $15; Hardy and his business partner have sold 10,000 copies so far, with a portion of the profits going toward charities of the models' choice.

The Church claims Hardy has used religion to sell sex, but Hardy sees it more as opening a dialogue.  Hardy, 31, told Newsweek: "To them, the excommunication process is a repentance process. What do I have to repent of? For producing a calendar? Giving money to charity? I believe in what I did, what I'm doing, and I'm not going to stop it." As much as I don't think this is a big deal, he should've expected some sort of punishment. Sex and religion don't mix.
