It's very unfortunate but with the internet these days, hardly anything is really private. You really can't expect anyone to protect your information when they don't have a vested interest in your privacy.
the story AND pictures i remember ended up in the bulletin space on Myspace. I read a bulletin about a car crash, then it said pictures of car and then not expecting it at all there she was...not fully decapitated, but the front of her head/face completely gone and the back of the head was still there. I was instantly sickened, and angry that someone would pass that bulletin on with no warning. I then saw this article about the family, if she was my sister or if she was a child of mine? MY GOD i would never be able to sleep again after seeing those photos. It has been about 2 years, i didn't know her but cannot get that image out of my head.
If this is true, yes. "Police admitted responsibility for accidentally releasing images of Nikki's corpse - those same images then got posted to the Internet." http://www.zimbio.com/Nikki+Catsouras/articles/62/Orange+County+Superior+Court+will+hear+Nikki
The person liable is the fiend that posted them. There should be criminal liability there.
