Starbucks is closing 600 locations...


Today Starbucks announced they would start closing 600 under-performing stores by the end of the year.

Starbucks CFO Pete Bocian cited the bad U.S. economy; the company's profits in the first three months of 2008 have fallen 28% compared to 2007.  Most of the company-operated locations that will be closed opened within the past two years.

There were 16,226 Starbucks locations in the world at the end of March.
