The issues surrounding recent discussions on US offshore drilling for oil has significant impact for all Americans. The soring oil prices are effecting the costs of everything from food to gas. There are also significant issues on local and global environmental impact. While there are many issues, we need to look at our next leader and determine which will have the best course of action going forward. Check out Obama and McCain in side-by-side videos on PollClash http://www.pollclash.com/ comparing their recent comments on ANWR and offshore oil drilling. It is, if nothing else, very interesting to hear their perspective.

Think that everyone is missing the point of this oil crisis. We need a new resource not more oil. We need a solution to this problem not another way around it…

Of course, there are advantages to waiting as long as possible. 1) oil prices are only going upward, so profits would be greater 2) technology will be better, so it will be safer and cleaner and 3) keeping the oil in the ground will mean that we will have to look for alternatives NOW instead of later when the oil has completely gone, and will mean there will still be some in reserve once all the other stocks are gone.

Obama's plan is honest without pandering. He said he would not tell us what we may want to hear, but would tell us the truth and he has. McCain panders as if we were brainless sheep!

The same people crying "no blood for oil" and "we need to stop relying on foreign oil" are the same ones saying "don't drill here man" Which is it to be? I know the left is afraid of drilling here. Look what that would mean. a) more closely regulated environmental drilling by the US vs other nations b) an energy self sufficient nation with increased foreign policy bargaining power c) a stimulated economy due to lower gas prices, everything from the costs of manufaturing goods to milk and food prices etc... would drop. Isn't that scary? Oh wait, did I mention all the jobs in depressed Southern coastal cities it would create? I won't even start on the way we will be able to spread our aid to starving African nations much further since the cost of pesticides and fertilizers will plummet since they are petroleum based. dumb dumb dumb not to drill at home.

Obama's right for the offshore drilling. The oil companies would still totally control it and they'd do the same thing and get as much money as possible for their oil.
