A tip is optional.  You have to earn it.  I have had service so rude that I did not leave any tip.  With bad service I'll leave something, because everyone can have a bad day.  BTW, I've been in the restaurant business all my life.

Since servers are taxed based on their sales, the worst service should get a 10% tip. Otherwise, you are forcing them to pay to serve you. And that is wrong.
