I am interested to see how things work out with this, how it will affect other states once those that marry in CA & MA start moving to other states and wanting their marriages to be recognized. I wish them as much luck as anyone else getting married, though I imagine the divorce rate will be about the same as straight marriage. I guess I am more ambivalent about it than I thought...
I am happy for them.You should be able to marry any consenting person of legal age that you choose and as many people as you choose. The governement has no business sticking it's nose in relationships or religion for that matter. However, as a footnote, it will be intersting to see how long the divorce line extends around the corner in 18 months when we see how many did it just because they could and not because they should. After that I think it will all even out. Maybe even with a temporary 20 year lower divorce rate amongst gays than straights because it was so much harder to do and maybe appreciated a little more.
