Ahhhh, I remember having the time and money for that. Hitting the used bookstores for the bulk fix ($60 wil go faaaar) and Borders for specifics. Finishing off a novel or two in a day.Damn, I miss it. Wouldn't trade my little one for all the books in the world but it would be so nice to have both!
I edit non-fiction. I read non-fiction for research. The rest of my reading is fiction but I the science wrong or the political thriller that doesn't understand foreign policy. I'll read a crappy writer if they have done their research.
I love books, but I'm really picky with them so I don't end up reading as often as I'd like. I tend to like short stories, like Haruki Murakami's the most. A lot of the time I just don't feel like reading a novel. Most of the things I read these days are just to help me with guitar and Japanese.
I'm a voracious reader, but tend more toward escapism. I read every genre of fiction, with the exception of so-called "romance" novels (my idea of romance runs more int he direction of Jane Austin and Emily Bronte, but those that categorize books don't seem to agree). As for the non-fiction, I prefer accessible histories and ethnographies. I have a fair number of how-to's but don't really read those for pleasure.
So does my wife. She reads more than anyone I've ever met, but she fills the shelves with fantasy novels. I don't criticize her choices (well, I try not to,) but that sort of thing is not for me. I read The Lord of The Rings, but that's about as far as I go. Oh, and I've read every Kurt Vonnegut Jr. book and I've read a lot of Phillip K. Dick's novels, but usually no fiction.
Does all the reading I do on the Internet counts?
Bwahahahahaaaaa!

Dynomoose just wanted an opportunity to use the word voracious in mixed company!

I know that feeling!
I like to read, but I don't have the time. :-)

I like both fiction and non-fiction. Though I do tend to lean more toward the fiction.
But not fiction. I don't waste my time with that.
