Happy Flag Day! What are your plans for today?

The sweet smell of homemade apple pie, a summer baseball game and even an old-fashioned cheeseburger all are known as symbols of American life, yet none can compare for most Americans to the red, white and blue flag that represents the United States.

The flag is a symbol of pride for a nation of independence, with three of the most promising colors to live by.

Though beautiful and for spacious skies it is, the flag represents more than just a decorative touch. It embodies American freedom and tells stories of the past, while serving as a reminder that there is a nation that has stood on the premise of liberty and justice for all.

So it comes as no surprise that the flag would have its own designated day of the year to recognize and honor the history of the nation that was founded in 1776. That day is June 14.
