Actually I have three dogs...one adopted from a shelter, one that showed up on my doorstep and after posting signs and newspaper ads I adopted her, and one I adopted from some folks who were moving overseas, but they got him from a breeder.
Three of my cats were born in our old driveway and we took them in. The other, Sweetie-Pie, got into our old apartment on her own and has been with us ever since. So she adopted us.
I am not one to support pet stores, but after my divorce my son and I went in to the pet store to "just look" for something to do. We came out with Daisy. When I woke up that morning I never thought I'd be bringing a puppy home that day.

I found my cat in the middle of an intersection, almost getting ran over. So I some-what 'adopted' her. She's been with us for few years now.
we found ours in the yard, a pet rock.
We found Susie. The others were either given to us or were born at home.
Actually 3 of them are from a rescue group, and the other one adopted my family.
You do realize that adoption centers & shelters charge up to $100 to adopt a kitten.
Why buy pets? There are millions of homeless critters running around all over the place....RESCUE ONE!
Cody the Ignoramus was from a breeder, and Gizmo the Piddler was from a person who's chihuahuas gave birth, but wasn't a breeder
