Is the United States in denial about the detrimental effects on society caused by single-parent homes?

European countries are expected to study Denmark's decision to create mandatory shared custody laws. European countries are increasing alarmed by studies showing that children from single-parent homes fare far worse than children from homes with both parents. Socially liberal Denmark has taken these steps because it has become clear that their recent violent crime waves involved mostly growing children of single-parents. U.S. studies show that children of divorse are much more likely to suffer depression, commit violent crimes (murder, rape), and commit suicide. Children of single-parents make up almost 90% of people in American prisons.
