World's oldest mother, 70, with her three-year-old daughter: could a kid growing up with a really old mom develop normally?

Adriana Iliescu, 70, gave birthe to her 3 year old daughter Eliza on anuary 16, 2005, when she was 66 years and 230 days old, using a sperm donor. She lives with her daughter in Bucharest, Romania.

"I'm fit and healthy and I've never had any illnesses", says Iliescu. "I don't smoke and I don't drink. If I live as long as my parents did, Eliza will be 20 by the time I pass away... I think I still have a lot to give her".

"I always wanted a child, but I was so busy, I never had a partner. It's only in recent years that IVF became available in Romania".

"If my daughter is 16 by (the time I die), she will have the right to work", says Iliescu. "If she is younger, my hope is in two things, the state child protection services, and my doctor Prof Bogdan Marinescu, who is her godfather". Dailymail

Look at all the kids in the U.S. who are raised by their grandparents. Yeah, using IVF at that age was irresponsible, but the kid looks normal and healthy and will hopefully have a mom until she can fend for herself.

World Oldest Mother ? I don't think that's the correct wording for this. Also the baby pictures shows that the little baby is scared.

What is 'normal'? ... there are hundreds of thousands of kids being born to parents who are dying of AIDS, cannot feed them, or into abuse ... will they have a normal life? Leave the good lady alone to  love and care for the child as long as she is able ...

The mother looks pretty healthy despite her age.  I'm sure that she'll do her best.  But I have to wonder if she'll exceed her lifespan enough for that child to avoid tragedy.  It's kinda in my nature to focus on the worst case scenario.

I needed a maybe option for this one. Normal.....that all depends on your perspective. I do think, that she has a better chance considering where she lives.
