We have yet to declaw our housecat, but we are going to have to. He has shredded some of the wallpaper and he keeps my husband awake at night sometimes by attacking is feet with his claws. I don't want to hurt him, but we aren't left with much choice. The cats I has when I was kid were declawed too. It made living with them much easier.
I wish I'd had my cats declawed when they were young enough. Every cat I'd had before them was declawed and perfectly healthy and happy. I've tried those claw cap things. One of my cats gets all his off within an hour and two of them have to be frequently checked because not all the caps come off and have been known to grow into their foot pads.

I had my cat declawed and spayed as a kitten. It was a house cat that didn't go outside and was perfectly happy.
I do care, but one way or another...

My step-mom has type I diabetes and had her cats de-clawed.
