I believe female cats like men more. We have a little girl. She loves him more. And we know this because she won't just sneak attack and bite him at random moments. Oh man, and you should see her when she's in heat!! LMAO She'll follow him everywhere! It's funny watching him get all frustrated! :D
When I have hairspray on my hair and then the cat licks my hair, it's tongue will stick. LOL We have one cat that gets up on my hubby's lap & then proceeds to "bury" him with invisible cat litter.

You really need to shampoo after they do that. They think they're washing you, but all they're really doing is covering your head with cat spit.
My cat (my 9-year old one) does that to me, too. My younger (bigger, fatter, male) cat likes to be petted and held, but hates nuzzling.
Cats like to lick my head when I sleep. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle
Scent-marking and love.
Plus, having the beard doesn't hurt.
