Where, exactly, do you think Hydrogen comes from? As far as I'm aware, our only mass-production technique is electrolysis. And electrolysis takes some external form of energy. And our only economical energy comes from petroleum. Electrolysis is an inefficient use of energy, which ultimately means that hydrogen-burning cars burn more petroleum than petroleum-powered cars once you include the full energy supply chain.
