Someone once said education makes people difficult to lead and impossible to conquer. Exposing them to other cultures is good too. Food is basic so that comes first!
Okay... so you have a bunch of kids who are starving, have no clothes, are probably sick and are under constant threat of violence. You give a kid a laptop. What do you think he's going to do with it: a) trade it for a bag of rice, b) trade it for medicine, c) trade it for a gun and/or bullets, or d) get shot by a bandit who will sell it on the black market in exchange for drugs and bullets.
This laptop consumes only 2 watts of power...proposed that it can run from human movement to generate the power at a ratio of 1:10 being one minute of human movement for 10 minutes of power. There are also considerations for extended battery life.

I think getting the poor kids food and clothes and shelter is the first priority...after that then give them a laptop. :)
The poor children of the world have NO electricity and feel lucky if they have dinner tonight...
