Israel thinks Iran could have nukes as soon as 2009...do you agree?

Israel: Iran could have nukes by '09

With Iran racing forward with its nuclear program, Israel now believes the Islamic Republic will master centrifuge technology and be able to begin enriching uranium on a military scale this year, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

The new assessment moves up Israel's forecasts on Teheran's nuclear program by almost a full year - from 2009 to the end of 2008. According to the new timeline, Iran could have a nuclear weapon by the middle of next year.

Iran, a senior defense official said on Tuesday, had encountered numerous technical obstacles on its way to enriching uranium but was now on track to master the technology needed to enrich uranium within six months.

i happen to think that IF a nuke is detonated here on US soil then it will be from a terrorist that has managed to sneak across the border undetected with the materials needed to construct the bomb. not long ago a professor at a university here in the US was arrested along with his roommate because they had bomb making materials in their apartment.....don't recall if there was any uranium there or not....don't think so....my point is, that if they can go undetected that long, what else and who else is here getting ready to carry out a terrorist attack...

So far the US has been the only one to use a nuclear weapon, and since "W" refused to sign the anti-proliferation treaty we can't really make a case for everyone else not to develop them. Our good friends Israel and Pakistan both have them. But after 9-11 I think our government might use one on US soil to perpetuate some hidden agenda, like a strike against an enemy. Look at Iraq. We sold our CIA planted boy chemical weapons then 20 years later invaded on false claims of WMD's or nukes.

It's a technology that is well documented (both online and in published materials), easy to construct, and has been around for a long time.  It is hard to imagine why anyone who wanted one couldn't have one.  Let's face it, sophisticated machining tools are cheap and easy to use, nowadays, and computers are cheap and powerful, and explosives are cheap and easy to make... All you're missing is uranium, and that can't be impossible to buy.
