When I was in Finland three years ago, gas cost almost $8 per gallon. The last time I was in the Phillipines, it was roughly $6 per gallon (in 1989). Historically, Americans have paid a tiny fraction for gasoline compared with the rest of the western world. Even today, with the huge gas hikes, America pays roughly half as much for gas than most of Europe. As of April 1st, 2008:
1. Bosnia-Herzegovina $10.86 2. Eritrea $9.58 3. Norway $8.73 4. United Kingdom $8.38 5. Netherlands $8.37 6. Monaco $8.31 7. Iceland $8.28 8. Belgium $8.22 9. France $8.07 10. Germany $7.86 111. United States $3.45
Most of the countries with cheaper gas are oil-exporting 3rd-world countries like Venezuela and Saudi Arabia.
time for the USA to get more efficient cars... 2 litre to 3 litre should be the maximum... and start using diesel or diesel hybrids...
Nothing like riding a smelly bus full of gangbangers and bums. Our public transportation and cars are in need of changes and upgrading for sure, but I'm still feel lucky to not be paying European prices
If that's what it takes. Public transportation is severly lacking.
