Tiffany Shepherd, a high school teacher, was fired after these pictures surfaced online

Tiffany Shepherd, a Biology high school teacher from Port St Lucie in Florida was fired from her job last week after school administration learned that she was also working part time as a bikini girl on charter fishing boats, where hostess would sometimes walk around topless.

The administration learned about the teacher's past time when they saw her "sexy bikini pictures" on the Internet.

While teachers are people, they are (and should be) held to a standard of proper role model to their students. This young lady is very pretty, but shouldn't make herself the subject of horny school boys (on purpose).

It is funny to see the person with the rant above that claims he/she is a teacher with all the spelling errors in the comment.  Maybe not a teacher?  Maybe not a very good one?

I had a teacher who had NUDE pictures of herself that she forgot to delete off the school camera, and she wasn't fired. So yes, I think they're being a bit extreme here. She's definitely being made an example of.

that wa smy biology teacher till hte beginning of april, when she got fired..i was absent on monday..and when i got there tuesday she wasnt there..which is nothin new ms.shepherd was NEVER there..she's a fun teacher though...she doesnt teach thugh..all she does is give us notes and read them out loud that was IT...now we have a sub for the rest of the year..ok maybe the pictures were a bit off but she had a job that wasn't appropriate for also being a teacher..as a teacher u cant ahve that kind of reputation or stuff going around because you're like a role model to all the students...ms shepherd has a mysapce and shes always giving her students her number..which is really wrong...her students would always be texting her and all..she has three children i understand that but she could've found another job...now shes getting offers to do a bunch of things..such as $25,000 to pose for playboy..but shes not even that pretty..but whatever...it sucks too because a lot of times she was absent because her son has some kind of disease i forgot what it was..its sad..and complicated.how about ppl just stop judging her and prayt for her.

although I agree with your position, the word "effect" is a noun, the word you meant to use is "affected".

I'm an ex-teacher, and it took me 2 years to get a teaching cert. on top of a 5 year Bachelor degree. Some of the garbage that people want to impose on teachers still amazes me. In the state of Washington, all teachers are FBI fingerprinted. Not even doctors are required to be fingerprinted, and they hold people's lives in their hands. Teachers also start out with really low pay, and they have to pay for a Masters degree within 5 years of landing a full-time position. The requirements are ludicrous, and people want to keep on imposing stricter and stricter standards. Here's a novel idea- if a kid grows up to be a f*cked up adult, PERHAPS IT'S THE PARENTS FAULT!!!! Even if a child sees this woman in her bathing suit, who cares??? And if someone tries to say that a child is severely effected by these pictures, they are dead wrong. The problems lye in how the family perceives them, and how they teach their children to perceive them.

Gee what if it was a male teacher? You same people who call for leniency for her would want to castrate the guy. I'm sick of the double standards in this country, women squawk about equal rights and thats fine. But with equal rights comes equal responsibility, and equal consequences for your actions.

It all depends on where the pictures were posted and how they surfaced.  If the teacher told her students to check out her myspace page, where the pictures were posted, then yes, that's a problem.  However, if, I don't know, they were posted on an online dating site that a kid happened upon while browsing under his divorced father name, then she should not have been fired.  It's all dependant upon the circumstances.  That said, in this day and age, I think it's a good idea to be wary on posting such pictures.

Teachers are held to a higher moral standard by most, and rightfully so.  They are a prominent influence on children, and they must maintain a standard of decorum and decency.  The fact that this woman worked on the side in a bikini is not the issue.  The issue is that she made this side job public and prominent, tarnishing her credibility as an instructor of youth.  Teachers teach more than just facts.

I taught for 32 years and what she was wearing can be seen on any beach. Just imagine if you wore a bikini and got fired from your job. It is not an immoral act nor did it violate any law that I know of. At one time unmarried teacher who were pregnant could be fired so lets not go back to the dark ages.

She should have been allowed to apologize for her bad judgement and that should have been the end of it.
