If the FBI and CIA were spying on you and your family for over 30 years, would you become paranoid?

Records Show FBI Probed Chess Great

PHILADELPHIA -- Bobby Fischer, the eccentric chess prodigy who dueled Soviet grand masters and won a world title in 1972, was investigated by FBI agents who suspected his mother was a communist spy, according to the bureau's records.

FBI files obtained by The Philadelphia Inquirer under the Freedom of Information Act show that the government watched the Fischer family for three decades, and at one point feared that Soviet agents had tried to recruit Fischer himself.

The bureau ultimately concluded that his mother, Regina Fischer, was not a spy, but only after years of researching her history, reading her mail, studying her canceled checks and questioning her neighbors.

Wow, that's amazing. My wife and I were stopped at the border near Detriot on suspicion on being Israeli spies. The Naval Intelligence Service (NIS) investigated me for suspicion of being a spy for the Soviet Union . . . all the while I was spying for the US, and I couldn't join the Peace Corps. So, I became a teacher (who still can't spell).

My dad worked at AT&T's Bell Laboratories in the 70's, and my mom is from Finland (Bordering Russia).  The government interviewed my parents every year.  Then we moved to the middle east for a decade.  I suspect that they're still interested in us, although my parents aren't frequently interviewed by anonymous government workers in un-numbered rooms in un-marked buildings, anymore.

I'd feel sorry for the agents who had to watch my boring life
