American Idol is receiving extremely high TV ratings, but there are such few "successful"winners, and the runner ups are being long forgotten. American Idol does not provide talent, but a platform of awful remakes. (source)

I don't care to watch it myself, but "ruining music?" Nah. It doesn't have that much influence.
