Excellent point guys, I should have used the word 'implemented.' I, personally, didnt even have an opportunity to take any philosophy until I was in college.
I don't like things to be required. I'd have to say, something should be required when their is overwelming evidence that it is in the best intrest of the child. Personally, I don't think Geometry should be required of every high school student (Algebra, too!). Many people are unaware that 'budgeting' education can effectively begin in Kindergarten with learning about wants vs. needs. Because school curriculum should be reveiwed every year, it is difficult to say what should be required. If it were up to me (thankfully it isn't) I would figure out how to help kids benifit from Philosophy at the youngest age possible. My concern is that whole thing will quickly get politicised. Being a States' Rights advocate, I feel that it should be up to the peoples of each state to decide their curriculum.
Check it out "Children as young as FIVE get philosophy lessons"
There's too many kids still believing in that god thingy.
5th graders don't have enough maturity... neither do highschoolers... but the education has to being at SOME point.

Required? I don't like the sound of that. They ruined math that way - don't let them ruin philosophy.
