Technological breakthrough involves the impact of new machine and tools, like the creation of strong AI, the technological singularity, fusion energy, etc.

Biological/medical breakthrough involves improvements in the human body, like inmortality, medical nanobots, cyborgs, human evolution, etc.

Social/Political breakthrough involves political and/or cultural changes on our societies, like the creation of a world's sense of identity, a new and flawless economical system, full world media coverage, etc.

Spiritual/Philosophical breakthrough involves the evolution of the human mind, like the world unification to a single religion, the creation of a new and universal belief-system, the discovery of extraterrestial intelligence, a new pylosophical conception, etc.

Of course, the ideal would be a combination of all the above, but which one you place your bets on?
