Fear made whites move because of blacks behavior. I known several whites that really didn't want to sale/leave their homes after many years of living/raising their kid there. As a young girl I lived in East St. Louis, Venice, and Madison Illinois and all were very nice places to live. I'm not saying that there wasn't a few bad areas (all cities have them), but each of those cities are now total slum areas. I remember going to Jones Park in East St. Louis every summer to swim. That had to stop when the Blacks took it over. Not because they were black, but because they wouldn't let any white people enjoy being there. Blacks made sure that whites would be pushed or rammed into, etc. while a person was swimming. As hard as a person tried to be friends are just get along with the blacks, they wouldn't let you.It seems to me, that things are moving backward, Blacks are always trying to find a reason to blame the whites for everything that is happening to them now. I don't think my 90% is to high. Black feel that they have the right away on everything in life, because of what happen to their elders. Whites will always be used as the reason that blacks are not able to better themseI will stick by my assertion of fear.First, the good quality people move in, the ones that want the good life. There is a perception because they a different they are dangerous. The whites that have that fear leave. There is a vacuum in the community then, the diverse nature is gone. You have only good quality black families left and services suffer. Then, the dregs move in and the good quality people leave again, leaving the dregs. Services suffer again, the dregs destroy the city. You see, we black folk of quality do not want to live there either.When those cities you mentioned had black folk move in, did they go down immediatley? I doubt it. Now, I do not blame the quality whites for it, I do not blame the quality blacks for it.I blame the fear of the different for it.Myself, I would not live in Venice particurally. Heck, I do not even want to visit there. I will stick to Brentwood, MO.Fear had nothing to do with it, people did not move out right away. People tried to live there for several years after Blacks took over the areas. However, who wants to continue living in a city that is going down hill due to crime/deteriorating condition of the neighborhoods. It was about 50 years ago when I lived there and it was a very clean well kept city. Others tried to stick it out for several year after we left and finally had to move, due to the violence all around them. Also, Venice IL at one time was a very nice little city 40 years ago. I lived there for several years before Blacks started moving in, and just like East St. Louis IL, the same thing happened there, after several years it was nothing but slummy looking. I wouldn't even drive near it now.This has happened to Cities in every State, not just in Illinois and Missouri. That is not something that just happened one time, it happened over and over (Madison IL, Washington Park IL, Brooklyn IL, Several cities in MO, Detroit MI, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Mobil AL, Several Cities in Mississippi, etc.) Blacks have the same opportunities as Whites and there is no reason for whole cities to be destroyed.Whites cannot be blamed for them destroying the cities they live. Why is it so hard to keep up the places they live in.
