In Kansas the company reputation is poor at best. They are indifferent to their customers and indignant when asked to make good on a return, repair or warranty issue. I know people who have spent tens of thousands of dollars there and been treated like they were not welcome in the store. I always discourage people from shopping there and am not surprised at the kind of trouble facing this woman or the company response. Backup, backup, backup your data and anything saved on a data drive should be encrypted no matter how sensitive you might think it is.
Suing is the right thing to do.Maybe 54mil is a bit unreal. But he fact is her data and personal info is on that laptop. And that is worth a lot more than the laptop itself. But not 54 million dollars.
I am having a problem with a laptop under Best Buy exteneded service plan too. The laptop was sent in for repair in October. It was returned repaired, but with other damage made by the service center. It was returned again repaired, but with still more damage made by the service center. It is now four months and I am caught between the store and the service center as they argue about who is to pay for the replacement. I am assured that, or perhaps strung along to, Friday, which is when they say (again) the issue will be resolved. aanddw@yahoo.com
The "Big Conglomerates", like Best Buy, etc., need to remember that it's their customers that keep them alive and well. We get a deaf ear and a cold shoulder much too often. The consumer needs to be respected again. Raelyn Campbell may help that perspective.
Yes, as a last resort she should sue them, maybe then they will get their customer service right, not to mention their value system of other peoples property & personal information. Hope she acutally wins. Irene S.
Best Buy needs to be ashame of themselfs, they should have attempted to work something out with the lady early within the first month...or two. .. sure 54 mill is a lot, but her data, work, time and waiting... She should get paid.. a lot, but not 54 million..
best buy is an oxymoron, they are not a best buy as their prices are higher than others . they try to follow the walmart model of run everyone out of business then raise the prices. Thank God here in California we have FRY'S ELECTRONICS to whoop their asses!!!!!
